I wish the name of this book was Beautiful Overcomer! Barbara is the most amazing person I know and has overcome obstacle after obstacle to love God and love others so well!!! Her story will inspire readers in every season of their lives to be their best self and be grateful for all the little things we so easily take for granted! Many years ago I took a picture of Barbara writing with a pen in her mouth to show my 5th grade students that they had no excuse for poor penmanship! My own lesson from Barbara was to live out God’s purpose for my life with joy and a grateful heart!

I truly enjoyed reading the autobiography “Beautiful Stranger” by Barbara Bagwell. It was wonderfully well-written and engaging. It gave me a great sense of who Ms. Bagwell is as a woman and a Christian. I appreciated her honesty about her faults and her excellent attitude about her debilitating disabilities. She is truly a woman who has made lemonade out of the lemons life has given her. Throughout the book, we see a girl (and later a woman) who learns to live and adapt to life with her limitations and even grow despite them. I sincerely admire the courage and determination that Ms. Bagwell displayed her entire life to achieve whatever it is she wanted to achieve. Quite frankly, I would not be that brave or self-sufficient if I were in her shoes. I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures of herself, her family, and her paintings that she provided within the book, but my only regret is that they were not in color. Thank you, Ms. Bagwell, for sharing your life with others so they can be encouraged by your zeal for living a productive and fruitful Christian life despite setbacks along the way.
